Silence

I've noticed something about myself the last few days. Maybe you can relate, or maybe you can't at all. But, I have noticed that I have a hard time being silent. Not like I can't not talk, but the kind of silent where I'm just constantly around noise and don't take time to be alone and quiet.

Trust me..

I love to talk.

I love to listen.

If you know me well, I usually have headphones in, listening to music.

I even sleep with a fan going because I cannot stand the silence.

Now, while talking, listening , and sleeping with a fan are not bad, they prevent you from being still and quiet.

But we need silence. As much as it is boring, or awkward.

For me, the times where I take time to be silent, is the time I hear God the most. It's amazing and terrifying all at once. And I would encourage you, if you worry that you aren't hearing from God, maybe you need to take the time to be silent and let God in. Let God reveal himself to you.

It doesn't have to be long, just sit and be silent. Even though it's quiet, silence can be deafening.

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope comes from him -- Psalm 62:5
